Terms of Use

Effective 26 September 2026 · Applies to the BUBU app and website

The short version

Each section gives the exact terms first, then an "In plain words" box that explains what they mean for you. Legal words are explained in section 20.

1. This agreement

These Terms of Use ("terms") are an agreement between you and Amthuz Zafrin, the individual developer based in India who builds and runs BUBU ("we", "us"). They cover the BUBU app, website and related services ("BUBU").

By creating an account, or by using BUBU, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use BUBU.

These are the rules for using BUBU. When you sign up, you are agreeing to them, a bit like ticking "I agree" on any app. If there is something here you cannot accept, do not use BUBU.

2. Who can use BUBU

You must be able to form a binding contract under Indian law. By using BUBU you confirm that you are. We may close any account we believe belongs to someone who is not.

You need to be old enough, under Indian law, to agree to a contract before you sign up. If you are not, please do not create an account.

3. BUBU is not medical care

BUBU is a wellbeing companion, not a healthcare service. It is not a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, counsellor or doctor, and it is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it does not prescribe or recommend medication.

Nothing BUBU says is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you are struggling, or think you may have a health condition, please speak to a qualified professional. BUBU can be a support alongside that, but never a replacement for it.

Talking to BUBU is like talking to a caring friend, not seeing a doctor. It will not tell you what illness you have or which medicine to take. If you need those answers, please see a professional. BUBU can keep you company alongside that.

4. Emergencies

BUBU checks every message for signs that you may be in danger, and shows helpline numbers if it sees them. This is free for everyone, with or without a subscription. But:

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in India) or go to the nearest hospital straight away. Helplines for other countries are on our Safety & helplines page.

5. AI limitations

BUBU's replies are generated by artificial intelligence. That means:

Use your own judgement about anything BUBU says, and do not act on it where a mistake could harm you or anyone else.

A computer writes BUBU's replies, and computers get things wrong. If BUBU tells you a fact, or suggests something, check it before relying on it, especially about health, money or safety.

6. Your account

Your account is just for you. Do not share your password. If you think someone else got in, reset your password from the sign-in screen and tell us.

7. Acceptable use

When you use BUBU, you agree not to:

We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Use BUBU for yourself, honestly and kindly. Do not use it to hurt anyone, do not try to break or trick it, and do not show it other people without asking them. If you do, we may close your account.

8. Plans, payment and renewal

Plans

Using BUBU requires a paid plan, billed monthly or annually. The current prices and what each plan includes, such as its daily message allowance, are shown in the app and in Google Play before you buy. Crisis help never needs a subscription.

Payment

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play, under Google's terms. Google collects the payment. We never receive or store your card, UPI or bank details. The final price, including any applicable taxes, is shown by Google Play before you confirm.

Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually), and Google Play charges your chosen payment method, until you cancel. Where Indian rules require it, you will be asked to approve the recurring payment when you first subscribe, and notified before a renewal charge.

Cancelling

You can cancel any time in Google Play (Play Store › your profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions). After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. Deleting the app, or your BUBU account, does not cancel the subscription.

How renewal and cancelling work, with example prices:

What happensMonthly planAnnual plan
You subscribe5 October. Google charges you, e.g. ₹399.5 October 2026. Google charges you, e.g. ₹3,999.
It renews5 November, then the 5th of every month. ₹399 each time.5 October 2027, then every year.
You cancel on 20 OctoberYou keep BUBU until 5 November. No more charges. You keep BUBU until 5 October 2027. No more charges.
You only delete the appThe subscription keeps running and renewing. Cancel it in Google Play.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Google Play under Google Play's refund policies. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments for a billing period already started are not refundable, and cancelling does not refund the rest of the current period. Our Refund & Cancellation Policy explains when we will refund you ourselves.

Price changes

We may change prices. Any change will be notified to you in advance through Google Play, as its rules require, and applies from your next renewal. If you do not accept it, you can cancel before it takes effect.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Google Play may retry it for a limited time (a grace period). If it still fails, your paid access ends until the payment is fixed.

You pay through Google Play, like any other app subscription, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it in the Play Store. Cancelling stops future charges; it does not give back money for time already started. If you are charged by mistake, see our refund page.

9. Your content

What you say to BUBU, and any photo you ask it to look at, stays yours. You give us permission to process it only as needed to run BUBU for you: to reply, to remember you, to keep you safe and to keep the service working, as described in the Privacy Policy. This permission ends when you delete your account, except where the law requires us to keep something.

Your words belong to you. We only use them to make BUBU work for you. We do not publish them, sell them, or use them for anything else.

10. BUBU's content

The BUBU name, its face and expressions, its design, software and written content belong to us and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use BUBU for yourself under these terms. Nothing in these terms gives you any other rights to them.

You can use BUBU, but you cannot copy it, sell it, or reuse its face, name or design as your own.

11. Third-party services

BUBU relies on other companies' services, including Google (Firebase, Google Play and speech recognition) and an AI model provider. Your use of Google Play is also governed by Google's own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control, although we choose them carefully.

BUBU uses a few outside companies behind the scenes, mainly Google. Paying through Google Play also means Google's own rules apply to the payment.

12. Changes to BUBU

We are constantly improving BUBU, so features may change, be added or be removed, and BUBU may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. If we ever shut BUBU down entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app.

BUBU will keep changing as we improve it, and it may occasionally be down for a while. If it ever closes for good, we will warn you first in the app.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop using BUBU and delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect you, other people or BUBU. Where appropriate, we will explain why. Sections 9, 10 and 14 to 17 continue after this agreement ends.

You can leave whenever you want. We would only close your account for a serious reason, such as breaking these rules, and we will usually tell you why. A few sections, like the one about who owns what, still apply after you leave.

14. Disclaimers

We work hard to make BUBU helpful, safe and reliable. But to the extent the law allows, BUBU is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose, or that its replies will be accurate. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.

"As is" means we offer BUBU the way it is, without a guarantee that it will be perfect or always working. We do our best, but we cannot promise it will never break or never be wrong. Your basic consumer rights are not affected.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law:

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

If something goes wrong and you make a claim against us, the most we would have to pay is what you paid for BUBU in the last 12 months. On a monthly plan at ₹399, that would be about ₹4,788. This cap does not apply to things the law will not allow us to limit, such as fraud.

16. Indemnity

If you break these terms or the law while using BUBU, and a claim is made against us because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs that result, to the extent the law allows.

If you use BUBU to do something illegal or harmful, and someone takes legal action against us because of it, you would have to cover the costs, not us. This does not apply to ordinary use of BUBU.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If a dispute arises, please contact us first (section 19). Most concerns can be settled quickly that way. If it cannot be resolved, it will be decided by the competent courts in India. This does not take away any right you have to bring a claim under consumer protection law.

Indian law applies to these terms. If you have a problem, please email us first. We would much rather fix it with you. If we cannot agree, an Indian court would decide, and your consumer rights still apply.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when BUBU changes or the law does. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. By continuing to use BUBU after that, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using BUBU and delete your account.

If we change anything important, BUBU tells you first. Carrying on using BUBU means you accept the change. If you do not, you can leave.
